Men's Golf Association - Richmond Area Golf
The Mill Quarter Men’s Golf Association (MQGA) holds tournaments each month and invites you to join them. Membership is $75 yearly ($55 for Seniors) payable before March 1 of each year. See the tournament schedule below for a listing of MQGA events.

Tournament Results:
Our January Captain’s Choice with String Tournament was rescheduled on January 25th due to inclement weather on the 18th. We had a good turnout of 23 players on a very nice day, and all enjoyed this fun format. We collected $230 in entry fees and gave it all back out as prizes (60% 1st place and 40% 2nd place).
Congratulations to the winners who were as follows:
1st Place: Bruce Honeycutt, Brent Gillespie, Chuck English 57
2nd Place: Lewis Autry, Ron Bisbee, Eddie Glidewell, Greg Kennedy 59
(Won on tiebreaker by ending with most string with 2 other teams who also finished 13 under.)
Upcoming Tournament:
Our next tournament is scheduled for Sat. February 18 with a 10 AM shotgun start. The format is Red/White/Blue Captain’s Choice. Each team will decide which holes to play from the Red, White, & Blue tees (6 holes each) and then all players will play from the designated color tee. Seniors, however, may move up from White to Gold and from Blue to White. Tee selection strategy usually plays an important part in this format. A standard tiebreaker will be in effect (back nine, last six, last three).
Please be at course BEFORE 9:30 AM to sign up for this fun event. No prior sign up is required. Officers will form 4 Man Teams based on handicaps (A/B/C/D). The course has once again offered to let Guests ride free; so, bring any potential new members out for this fun event. Remember to let Front Desk know who is a guest when paying for green fee.
2012 Membership Reminder:
If you haven’t done so already, please send in your 2012 Membership Application and fee. A new membership application for 2012 is attached. Applications are also available on the MQ website and hard copies are on the Front Desk at the Clubhouse. Please return as early as possible to Tim Jackson, Treasurer. Due to VSGA requirements, all members must be signed up by March 15 to avoid having their handicaps removed from the GHIN system. Membership fees have been kept at the same rate for 2012. The rate is $75 for members under the age of 65 and $55 for seniors (65 and older) prior to March 1. After March 1 fees go up by $10.
Please remember the Benefits of Association Membership:
1. All members receive a $4.00 discount on green fees. (Remember to tell Desk that you are an Association Member to insure you receive this discount.)
2. Members are allowed to walk on weekends.
3. Discounts on merchandise purchases in Pro Shop (usually 10% over cost).
4. Monthly Tournaments on 3rd Saturday of each month, with two special tournaments—the Member Invitational and the Club Championship. The Club Champion receives a free year of golf at Mill Quarter. The Senior Club Champion receives either a free Association Membership for the next year or a gift certificate at the Pro Shop.
5. USGA/VSGA handicap services that includes score posting either at MQ Clubhouse or via Internet at VSGA.org. Each member will receive a certified handicap sticker on a monthly basis that allows you to participate in any VSGA event.
6. VSGA membership and free subscription to VSGA magazine “Virginia Golfer”.
7. Monthly Newsletter from MQGA sent via e-mail or USPS if you don’t have email.
8. Hole-in-One pot for members getting hole-in-one during a MQGA tournament.
